Citroën's Line
Berlingo, compromise between family and commercial vehicle !!!
Presentation
The Berlingo started a new trend in vehicles and has successfully established itself across all markets. More than
1,200,000 units have been sold worldwide since its launch.
To further enhance its appeal, the Berlingo is gaining upgrades in styling, equipment and engine range that add to its
versatile, friendly qualities.
In terms of styling, the Berlingo has added a dynamic touch to its "go anywhere" looks, with new painted side mouldings,
lights with a crystal central area, brushed aluminium-look roof bars and 15-inch wheel embellishers of new design.
Concerning equipment, the Berlingo is from now on available with a wide range of driving aids, including a speed limiter
coupled with cruise control, rear parking assistance and a Visibility Pack that considerably improves driving comfort,
with automatic lights, an automatic front wiper and an onboard computer.
The engine upgrades concern the diesel range which, from September and depending on the country, will comprise two HDi
options: the 75 bhp and 92 bhp 1.6 HDi engine, both mated with manual gearboxes.

Style
With a particularly expressive front end, combining generous volumes and taut lines, the Berlingo clearly announces its power
and robust strength.
A number of bold design cues clearly identify it as a leisure vehicle.
The deep, wraparound bumper and the wide, strongly ribbed bonnet enhance the robust looks of the Berlingo and mark it as a
leisure vehicle.
The generously sized radiator grille reinforces the character lines of the bonnet. The large redimensioned chevrons in the
centre of the grille immediately identify the Berlingo as a member of the Citroën family.
Fog lamps are fitted in the lower part of the bumper on certain models.
Comfort
The dashboard design maximises storage space with its “leisure-vehicle” styling. It features a central beam, with the
instrument cluster and controls on one side and the passenger airbag on the other.
The comfort controls are positioned on the central panel, above which is a screen showing the clock, together with
information on the car radio. The top part of the dashboard is coloured to match the colour scheme used elsewhere in
the passenger compartment.
The instrument cluster helps to customise the dashboard since the background colour of the four dials match the rest of the
vehicle. The digital screen, which features an odometer, shows the maintenance indicators and, for diesel engines, the level
of engine oil.
The sizeable wheel offers an easy grip for increased driving comfort. The horn control is now placed in the centre of the
steering wheel. The Berlingo also features new controls of a highly ergonomic design.
The radio receivers feature fingertip controls (right-hand paddle) with data displayed on a remote screen at the top of the
dashboard.
Modutop
A system of unique design, the Modutop offers storage capacity of 100 litres, over and above the space already available on
the standard vehicle. Inspired by the interior layout techniques used in aircraft, it lets the light flood in. The Modutop
is also equipped with a wide range of comfort equipment, including ventilation and interior lighting.
These functions make life on board the Berlingo even more pleasant and enjoyable, and underline its talents as a practical,
family vehicle.
Safety
Suspension
Berlingo's suspension has been developed to withstand the toughest tests (wheel off ground when cornering etc.) for the
heaviest vehicle versions carrying maximum equipment and heavy loads.
The 1.6i 16V and HDi 90 double sliding door models are fitted with 15-inch wheels which get the maximum performance out of
the Berlingo suspension.
Brakes
Concerning the braking system, all Berlingos are fitted with front ventilated discs of large dimensions: 266 mm x 26 mm.
ABS is standard, and coupled with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution.
Improved Safety
To ensure the safety of the occupants, the structure of the Berlingo has been reinforced to meet Europe’s most stringent
criteria on impact resistance.
The front doors of the Berlingo have been reinforced to maximise occupant safety in the event of side impact.
The front seats are equipped as standard with seatbelt pretensioners and force limiters.
Berlingo X-TR
The Berlingo X-TR adopts an off-road style with its strenghtened suspension, high ground clearance, 15-inch wheels,
reinforced sump guard, grey aluminium wheel caps and fog lamps.
The engine, brake cables and fuel pipe are protected by tough metal sheeting. The vehicles personality is firmly stamped by
the X-TR monogram on the body and the roof arch styling.
The X-TR Berlingo is available in four metallic colours, including one new finish: Persian Bronze, Storm Grey, Aluminium
Grey and Bivouac Sand.
The interior beige is featured on the dashboard decor, the door panels and the new seat upholstery. The height-adjustable
steering wheel is leather covered.
Engines and equipment
The Berlingo X-TR is available with 1.6i 16V 80 kW (110 bhp) and HDi 90 (66 kW) engines.
IIt gives the great performance of a Berlingo Multispace with standard safety and comfort equipment including ABS with
electronic brakeforce distribution, front-seat air bags, fog lamps, two side sliding doors, a CD-audio system and the
equipment pack with flip-down tables behind the front seats, front-seat armrests and the Modubox in the boot.
The Berlingo X-TR can also be fitted with side airbags in the front, cruise control, air conditioning and alloy wheels.
Engines
Petrol
- 1.4i 75 bhp DIN
The 1.4i engine develops 55 kW EEC (75 bhp DIN) and a torque of 120 Nm at 3,400 rpm. This engine is economic to run and is ideal for everyday uses.
The engine upgrades concern the diesel range which, from September and depending on the country, will comprise two HDi options: the 75 bhp and 92 bhp 1.6 HDi engine, both mated with manual gearboxes.
Berlingo NGV
The Berlingo 1.4i (600 and 800 kg) is also available in a petrol/NGV combined fuel version.
The petrol/ NGV dual-fuel technology respects the environment. NGV contains only half as many carbon atoms as petrol, so CO2 emissions are reduced accordingly. Moreover, NGV emits no sulphur dioxide, lead or particulates.
