Citroën's Line
C2, sports vehicle...
Presentation
The C2 is a dynamic 3-door supermini with top-of the range equipment, modular design and high-level engines. Released in
September 2003, it sold more than 150,000 units in Western Europe in 2004.
With its striking style and strong personality, the C2 is the embodiment of dynamic performance. Its design lines play on
visual appeal and on the break created by the recessed side rear windows.
The C2 has new rear lights.
Inside, the supermini has benefited, like the C3, from a new dashboard which enhances the passenger compartment. Two new
trims in leather and leather/fabric, available as options, also raise the tone of the onboard interior design.

Comfort et technology
Looking beyond styling, the C2 heralds an innovative concept in modular interior design and boot access. The rear
independent sliding seats can be folded down easily in order to provide as much space as required at the rear. High
standards of onboard comfort make the C2 a great car for everyday use.
Like the C3, the C2 boasts a range of equipment previously available only on vehicles from higher segments. The equipment
includes cruise control with the new addition of a speed limiter and instrument cluster display of selected mode and speed;
a height-and-reach adjustable steering wheel as standard; automatically operated front windscreen wiper and headlamps;
electronic parking assistance; and, on some versions, electronic rearview mirrors that can now be folded with a HF remote
control unit.
The C2 features an ingenious design concept through which the rear part of the vehicle can be adapted to the needs of the
moment. The two rear seats can be independently controlled by a support strap, to slide or fold “portfolio style” without
any effort on the part of the user.
This unique system provides the basis for a host of configurations. For example, the C2 can carry three adults while
offering generous loading space.Practical and easy to handle, the rear seats can also be folded and removed from the
rear of the vehicle.
The C2 combines driving pleasure with high levels of safety thanks to the latest in safety equipment, offered as standard,
such as ABS, emergency braking assistance, four front and side airbags, hazard warning lights activated automatically by
strong braking, and ESP (on the 1.4i and 1.6i 16V according to versions and markets).
Furthermore, the C2’s results in EuroNCAP consumer tests (4 stars and 29 points) have confirmed the qualities of the
common platform shared with the C3 and C3 Pluriel in terms of passenger protection.
VTR and VTS, a sport story
The VTR and VTS versions convey a particularly sporty image, with their specially designed body parts*. Painted trim
parts feature on the lower part of the front bumper and on the lower body. A spoiler positioned above the rear window
completes the trim.
The bold character of the C2 VTS is expressed by special alloy wheels, a chrome exhaust pipe and the VTS logo.
The sportiest model in the range, the C2 VTS and its 1.6i 16V 125 bhp engine, has already sold more than 10,000 units
worldwide. This high-performance supermini is made for customers seeking thrills and driving pleasure. At the same time,
the car boasts high levels of comfort and safety for day-to-day use.
Inside, the C2 VTS creates a new sporty ambience with black seats, translucent interior handles, leather steering wheel
and aluminium foot pedals.
The seat upholstery in fabric, velour or 3D mesh for the C2 VTR versions is available* in amber, blue, green or grey,
with matching trim on the front door panels.
Stop & Start, an environment question
The C2, unveiled in Frankfurt and due for launch in early 2006 (according to market), will be fitted with the Stop &
Start system that was introduced on the C3 in December 2004. The C2 Stop & Start embodies Citroën’s commitment to
reducing CO2 emissions.
Offered with the 1.4i 16V 90 bhp version, these models contribute to quality of city life by reducing fuel consumption
and CO2 emissions by around 10% over an urban cycle. What is more, noise emissions are eliminated when the vehicles
come to a halt.
The C2 Stop & Start combines two advanced technologies: the SensoDrive automated gearbox and an electronically controlled
reversible alternator. With the Stop & Start system, the engine cuts out just before the vehicle comes to a standstill
at a traffic light or in a traffic jams, for example. It is reactivated instantly and automatically as soon as the driver
releases the brake pedal to move forward again.

Petrol
- 1.6i 16V 125 bhp DIN
- 1.6i 16V 110 bhp DIN
- 1.4i 75 bhp DIN
- 1.1i 61 bhp DIN
The 1.6i 16V 125 bhp DIN engine is the most powerful engine for the C2 VTS. It develops 90 kW at 6,500 rpm and a torque of 143 Nm at 3,750 rpm. It is coupled with a 5-gear manual gearbox.
The 1.6i 16V model develops 80 kW (110 bhp) at 5,750 rpm with maximum torque of 147 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Associated with the high-performance characteristics of the VTR version and Sensodrive gearbox, this engine offers high-level performance and driving pleasure.
The 1.4i engine, the mid-range powerplant, is at ease both in the city and on the open road. It develops 54 kW (75 bhp) at 5,400 rpm and torque of 118 Nm at 3,300 rpm. This engine is combined either with a manual gearbox or with the SensoDrive gearbox.
The 1.1i engine is the entry-level model. Designed for economy, it develops 44.1 kW (61 bhp) at 5,500 rpm and torque of 94 Nm at 3,200 rpm.
Diesel
- HDi 70 bhp DIN Diesel
The diesel offering comprises the HDi engine developing 50 kW (70 bhp) at 4,000 rpm for torque of 150 Nm at 1,750 rpm. Particularly economical and quiet, this second-generation HDi common-rail engine is a strong performer: smooth and responsive at low engine speeds, suitable for long journeys, etc... This engine is combined either with a manual gearbox or with the SensoDrive gearbox.
